Privacy Policy

FeatQ is a feature voting board for products and businesses. Board owners use it to collect requests, votes, and comments from their users. We collect only the data we need to run that service, keep it secure, and support the people who use it. We do not sell personal data. We explain our choices here in plain language. 1. What we collect

• Board names, board settings, and the details a board owner chooses to add.
• Feature requests, votes, and comments that people submit to a board.
• Voter email addresses. We use an address to keep voting to one person and one vote. We also use it to send ship and status notifications when the voter has chosen to receive them.
• Payment information handled entirely by Stripe. We see the customer email and payment status that Stripe sends back. We never receive or store card numbers.
• Standard server logs, including an IP address, browser, and pages requested. We use these logs only to operate the service, investigate failures, and stop abuse.
• Fraud and dispute records. When someone starts a checkout or signs in to an owner account, we record the IP address, browser, language, referring page, and country at that moment. We keep these records to prevent fraud and to respond to payment disputes. We do not use them for marketing.

2. Whose data it is

Privacy law sometimes calls one party a controller and another a processor. In plain language, the controller decides why personal data is collected and how it should be used. The processor handles that data for the controller.

For votes, comments, and voter email addresses on a customer's board, the board owner makes those decisions. FeatQ processes the data on the board owner's behalf so the board works. Board owners can see voter email addresses for their own board. They must use those addresses only for feedback about the product or service covered by that board. They must not use them for unrelated marketing.

Voters with a question about a specific board should contact that board owner first. If that is not practical, reach us through featq.com/contact. We will help route the request and verify the person making it.

3. Where data lives

The main FeatQ database runs on our server in the EU, in Finland. Nightly backups are stored on our own servers in the United States. We keep those backups for a limited number of days. They exist so we can recover from a serious failure.

4. What we use it for

We use the data to run boards, display requests and comments, count votes, manage access, and support board owners and voters. We send status notification emails to voters who opted in when a request changes or ships. We send onboarding emails after a purchase so a board owner can get started and find the admin area.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share voter email addresses with anyone except the owner of the board where the voter provided the address. That owner may use the address only for feedback about the product or service on that board.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to keep people signed in. The board owner session cookie is featq_owner_session. The voter session cookie is featq_voter_session. The site admin session cookie is featq_admin_session. These cookies support authentication and prevent people from having to sign in again on every page.

Our analytics provider Datafast sets datafast_visitor_id and datafast_session_id. Those cookies help us understand visits and attribute signups and purchases. We do not use advertising cookies.

6. Analytics

Three analytics systems run on the site.

• Our own first-party events record the page path, referrer hostname, event type, and timestamp. They also include a daily anonymous visitor hash built from the IP address, browser, and date. Raw IP addresses are not stored in that hash or in the event record.
• Datafast, at datafa.st, is a privacy-focused analytics service. It sets the two cookies listed above. It helps us understand visits and attribute signups and purchases.
• Ahrefs Analytics gives us aggregate site traffic information. We use it to understand broad traffic patterns, not to build advertising profiles.

We do not run advertising trackers. We do not sell analytics data.

7. Emails and opting out

Status notification and onboarding emails are sent by FeatQ. Voters receive status emails only when they opted in. To stop notification emails, reply to any of them or use featq.com/contact. We remove the address promptly.

8. AI

We do not use board content or voter email addresses to train AI models. A feature may send content to an AI provider when that is needed to do the job the user requested. Generating a spec from feature requests is one example. That use is processing to deliver the feature. It is not training.

9. Your rights and deleting your data

Access, correction, and deletion requests are free. Voters can make a request through featq.com/contact. Include the email address used on the board so we can verify that it belongs to the person making the request. We may ask for another simple verification step if needed to protect the voter.

Board owners can ask us to delete an entire board and everything on it. That includes its requests, votes, comments, settings, and voter email addresses. Some payment and security records may need to remain where the law requires it.

Where GDPR applies, you also have the rights it gives you. Those may include the right to object to processing, restrict processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. You may complain to your local supervisory authority.

10. Children

FeatQ is a tool for products and businesses. It is not directed at children.

11. Changes

We may update this page when the service or our practices change. We will update the date at the top so the current version is clear. We will not quietly start doing something this page says we do not do.
